IT IS FORBIDDEN TO:

  • Pour liquids or throw any objects, except for the traditional coin toss
  • Sit, loiter, consume food or drinks, climb, or engage in any other behaviour incompatible with the site's intended use
  • Allow animals to drink or wash animals or clothing

Violation of the above prohibitions will result in an administrative fine ranging from €40 to €240 (Ordinance no. 82/2017)

  • Wade into the water or draw water from the fountain

Violation of this prohibition will result in an administrative fine starting from €450 (Art. 12 Public Regulations – D.C.S. no. 11/2016)

  • Damage or deface the fountain, its base or the surrounding area

Violation of this prohibition is punishable by imprisonment of up to one year or a fine of no less than €2,065 (Art. 733 Italian Criminal Code)

Useful information for entering and visiting the Trevi Fountain

Yes. From February 2, for non-resident visitors, an access ticket of 2 € is required to enter the internal perimeter.

For non-resident visitors, the ticket costs €2 and can be purchased on-site, online or at authorized sales points.

Admission is free for:

  • Residents of Rome or the Metropolitan City (show your ID card at the access control)
  • Children under 6 years old
  • People with disabilities and one accompanying person
  • Licensed tour guides (show a valid ID badge at the access control)
  • Roma MIC Card holder (valid);

Documents proving eligibility for free admission must be shown at the ticket office. If requirements are not met, a ticket must be purchased.

You can purchase it:

Pre-purchased tickets are open-dated, with no set date or time, and are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Payments on-site are accepted by card only. You can pay in cash at Civic Museums, Tourist Info Points, and authorized sales points.

If you've already purchased a ticket or are eligible for free, you can go directly to the dedicated line.

Otherwise, you'll have to wait in line to purchase your ticket.

Yes. The Trevi Fountain is always visible from outside, even without a ticket. The admission fee is only required to enter the monumental area.

How to reach the Trevi Fountain

You can reach the Trevi Fountain using the cycle path along the Tiber, which runs through much of the city.

From the cycle path, you can continue towards the historic centre and park your bicycle at the nearest bike racks, located in the areas around Piazza Barberini and Piazza Venezia, then continue on foot to the entrance.

Bicycles are not allowed inside the area.

The Trevi Fountain is easily accessible by bus and metro from the main areas of the city.

Metro

  • Line A — Barberini station (about 5 minutes on foot)
  • Line B — Cavour station (about 15 minutes on foot)
  • Line C — Colosseo station (continue on foot or by bus to the historic centre)

Bus

  • Lines: 118, 190F, 30, 46, 60

The nearest stops are close to Piazza Barberini and Piazza Venezia, both just a few minutes' walk from the Fountain.

The Trevi Fountain area is within the Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL). We recommend parking outside the ZTL* and continuing on foot or by public transport to the historic centre.

From the car park:

  • short walk towards Piazza Barberini
  • bus connections: 118, 190F, 30, 46, 60
  • Metro Line A (Barberini station)

*Always check ZTL hours before driving in.

From Fiumicino Airport (FCO) reach Roma Termini Station by:

  • Leonardo Express train
  • Dedicated shuttle services

From Ciampino Airport (CIA) reach Roma Termini Station by:

  • Shuttle services
  • Regional train (via Ciampino station)

From Termini Station you can easily reach the Trevi Fountain using the metro:

  • Line A towards Battistini, Barberini stop
  • Line B towards Laurentina, Cavour stop

From both stops, continue on foot towards the Trevi Fountain following the signs for the historic center.
